Alors que l'adaptation hollywoodienne de Ghost in the Shell mord la poussière au box-office mondial, obligeant les dirigeants de Paramount à enfin comprendre le problème du white washing, le Japon se prépare à une nouvelle adaptation animée du manga de Masamune Shirow.
C'est le très sérieux The Hollywood Reporter qui nous l'annonce, en expliquant que ce nouveal animé Ghost in the Shell sera un reboot, bien qu'il soit produit par Production I.G, responsable du film de 1995, encore culte aujourd'hui.
Ce nouveau métrage sera a priori réalisé par les vétérans Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell : Stand Alone Complex) et Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed) mais aucun scénariste ni aucune voix n'ont été annoncés pour le moment.
